What a wonderful man and a wonderful headteacher to have guided us through our formative years. I have very fond memories of our weekly school captain meetings (which focused heavily on tea, biscuits, and a good catch up). He leaves behind a legacy and lasting impression on an entire generation of Hyndland Secondary students.
He was a really nice guy as principal of my high school. Big Al is what we called him…
Mr Alexander was everything you could have asked for from a head teacher. Kind, considerate and with a brilliant sense of humour, he made a significant impact on my experience as a pupil of Hyndland Secondary.
One of the best guys I had the pleasure of meeting! So glad I got him as my head teacher for my first years at school before retiring was an absolute privilege and so grateful for all of the chats and help he gave me
I was so sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was the greatest headteacher, fiercely proud of his school and its pupils. A respected pillar of the community. I have fond memories of our school council and Captain’s meetings. He made us feel safe and heard during those important years. One memory that sticks in my brain is when I started a petition to ban teachers from marking papers in red ink, and Mr. A took us seriously! Absolute legend. A privilege to have known.
Good guy, always tried his best to help pupils and actually cared. Thoughts with his family.
Mt Alexander was a lovely man and a great educator. I moved to Scotland at 16 and from the very first day he was supportive and always eager to help me adjust into a new school and language.
He always checked with me to see how I was acclimating and took the time to personally help me with my university application as well as provide me with glowing references.
He was an example to emulate, not just for teachers, but for all of us and he will be missed.
Thank you Sir.
