Donald McLaren Ltd is an independent, family-run Funeral Director and Monumental Sculptor, established in 1912. We are proud of our reputation for providing a high standard of care and professionalism to the families we service.
We are looking to recruit a full-time Administrative Assistant to join our team.
The Role
This is a key role within our office team, supporting the day-to-day administration of the business and ensuring the smooth running of funeral arrangements and office operations.
This position requires a high level of accuracy, organisation, and professionalism, along with a compassionate and respectful approach when dealing with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Your role will involve a wide range of administrative duties, including but not limited to:
- Respond to enquiries by telephone, email, and in person in a professional and empathetic manner
- Accurately input and maintain client records and funeral documentation
- Prepare and issue funeral accounts
- Complete cemetery and crematorium paperwork, and coordinate timely collection of cremated remains
- Liaise with third parties such as florists, catering providers, and newspapers
- Process invoices, payments, and assist with financial administration
- Maintain organised digital and paper filing systems
- Prepare daily schedules and support operational planning
- Provide administrative support across funeral plans and monumental services
- Welcome and assist clients and visitors to the office

- Previous experience in a busy administrative role
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
