Family Funeral Directors & Memorial Craftsmen

Providing over 110 years of personal, professional service

Funeral Costs

At Donald McLaren Ltd, we believe that every funeral should be unique and suited to each person’s individual requirements.

Our professionally qualified funeral directors will discuss and explain every aspect of your chosen funeral service to ensure you receive  a tailored, personal funeral service of your choice. When the funeral has been arranged we will provide you with a clear itemised estimate of the costs prior to the funeral taking place. Our funeral invoice is divided into two parts: fees due to us for the services we provide for the funeral and fees due to third parties, called disbursements, which we pay on your behalf.

Most families choose a tailored funeral service and these costs will vary depending on the particular services ordered our funeral directors will provide you with a no obligation estimate tailored to your needs.

Standardised Price List

When considering and comparing funeral directors, it is important to bear in mind that not all companies will provide the same quality of products and standard of professional services. To ensure you choose a funeral director that will provide you with the quality of care, attention, and service you deserve, in addition to cost you should also consider the reputation of the company, the standard of their facilities, the quality of their products, and the qualification and professionalism of their staff.

All funeral directors are legally required to publish this Price List for a standardised set of products and services. This is to help you think through your options and make choices, and to let you compare prices between different funeral directors (because prices can vary).

Our standardised price list can be downloaded here.

Our funeral invoice will be sent to you 7 days after the funeral. Full payment is due within 30 days from the date of invoice.

We ask for a deposit equal to the total amount of third party costs (e.g. crematorium or cemetery fees). Where satisfied that there are adequate funds available to settle the funeral account, we may, at our sole discretion, agree not to require a deposit.

Our professional services charge of £1050 includes a discount of £360 provided full payment is made within 30 days. At our sole discretion, we may agree to extend the period for payment to 60 days, however the funeral will no longer qualify for our discounted professional services charge of £1050. In this event an amended invoice will be issued with our full professional services charged at £1410.

Failure to pay may result in court action in which a court may award judicial expenses and interest.
