Donald McLaren Ltd is an independent, family-run Funeral Director and Monumental Sculptor, established in 1912. We are proud of our reputation for providing a high standard of care and professionalism to the families we service.

We are looking to recruit a full-time Administrative Assistant to join our team.

The Role

This is a key role within our office team, supporting the day-to-day administration of the business and ensuring the smooth running of funeral arrangements and office operations.

This position requires a high level of accuracy, organisation, and professionalism, along with a compassionate and respectful approach when dealing with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Your role will involve a wide range of administrative duties, including but not limited to:

  • Respond to enquiries by telephone, email, and in person in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Accurately input and maintain client records and funeral documentation
  • Prepare and issue funeral accounts
  • Complete cemetery and crematorium paperwork, and coordinate timely collection of cremated remains
  • Liaise with third parties such as florists, catering providers, and newspapers
  • Process invoices, payments, and assist with financial administration
  • Maintain organised digital and paper filing systems
  • Prepare daily schedules and support operational planning
  • Provide administrative support across funeral plans and monumental services
  • Welcome and assist clients and visitors to the office

  • Previous experience in a busy administrative role
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
